Robert J. Metzler II

Bob Metzler is a principal of the firm and is a member of the Business and Finance Group. His practice is primarily concentrated in mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, securities, and commercial matters. Bob has served as outside general counsel to public and privately held corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. His clients are engaged in a diverse range of industries (including utility, energy, communications, waste management, and investment banking and other financial services).

Mr. Metzler represents clients with respect to business formation and governance, mergers and acquisitions, capital formation and finance, including state and federal securities law issues. Bob advises corporate clients and their individual officers, directors and shareholders in connection with compensation and stock ownership issues, as well as day to day operating matters such as contractual relationships with a company´s customers and suppliers. In recent years, Bob has been particularly involved in the representation of competitive retail telecommunications and electric energy suppliers and other participants in the energy industry. His representation of those entities includes regulatory representation before the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority.

Professional and Civic Organizations: Mr. Metzler has served on the Boards of Directors of the United Way of Connecticut (Chairman: 2003-2006) and the United Way of Central and Northeastern Connecticut. He also served on the Metro Hartford Alliance Legislative Affairs and Economic Development Councils and chaired its Energy Task Force in 2002-2004. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association and serves on the Executive Committee of the latter´s Public Utility Law Section (Chairman 1981-1984).
